California Residents and ABA Therapy Coverage
Our Hidden Treasures office is located in Los Angeles, and we serve California residents. For California residents, coverage of ABA therapy is mandated by law.
To qualify coverage of ABA therapy services in California, there are steps that parents must take:
- The child must have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), confirmed by a written report from a physician, psychiatrist, neurologist or psychologist.
- The diagnostic report is submitted to your insurance company and authorization is requested for a comprehensive ‘Functional Behavioral Assessment’ (FBA).
- Once the FBA is authorized, our highly trained Board Certified Behavior Analysts® (BCBAs) conduct the assessment through direct observation of your child as well as interviews with parents and teacher and questionnaires.
- When an FBA is completed and submitted to the insurance provider, an authorization is sent generally within about two weeks.
